I am inspired by lichens and the symbiosis between their two components, algae and fungi.
We live in an individualistic world and lichens are to me a symbol for a more cooperative society.
My work is divided into two parts: the celebration of the symbiosis and the relationship between the anthropic world and nature.
Like with lichens, in my pieces stones and metal are linked together. Indeed, I integrate the stones directly in each jewel, trying to avoid traditional settings. I create an organic texture melting the filing and the scraps on the surface, both reaching my aesthetic goal and reducing waste.
I enquired the interaction between the anthropic world and the natural one, after an exceptional storm destroyed an entire forest nearby my city. I chose a specific shape that represented the human world (the rectangle) which is ultimately overwhelmed by the natural one, represented by the lichen structure.
